Grantmakers' Roundtable FAQs
1. How do I know which funder will support my cause?
Do your research. We cannot do this research for you. You need to find out in advance which funders are most likely to support your organization. Then you can be sure to sit at their tables. You can find information about most of them online or at the University of Washington Tacoma Library (Foundations Center Directories). When ever possible, we have placed links to their websites for your viewing.
2. How can I get the most of the Grantmakers' Roundtable?
Bring a friend or associate – or even two. If there are more then four funders you want to visit, bring others along to double or triple your coverage.
Be on time. We will start on time, and you will miss out on at least 25% of the event if you're not there at the beginning.
3. What questions should I ask the funders?
Think ahead. What do you want to know from each funder? For example, do you wonder if it's ok to call them or what they mean when they say they fund in a certain area? Do they have a format that needs to be followed? If you have your questions noted ahead of time you can make the best use of your brief time with each funder.
4. Why can't this be an all day event?
All of the grantmakers' are gracious enough to volunteer their own time and out of respect of their busy schedules, we only ask them to do a partial day.
5. Is there anything else I should know about this event?
The purpose of this event is to help you connect with grantmakers' to learn about their organizations and whether or not it's an appropriate source of funding. To be fair of other participants and the funders, we ask that you keep your questions general and not inquire about your specific projects or requests.
