It is challenging to build and sustain a nonprofit organization. Every day South Sound nonprofits come to us for help with planning, financial management, leadership issues - all focused on increasing their capacity to deliver services effectively. You may even have participated in one or more of our services.

As calls for greater accountability come from Congress and from donors, nonprofit managers realize they must continue to build their ability to use available resources well. Nonprofit board members understand their leadership is under greater scrutiny requiring more knowledge about their work. Helping to meet these challenges is the Center's job.

Our 2004 Annual Report is included with this letter. Here are a few highlights:

• 28 seminars on nonprofit management skills with 440 participants
• 31 customized board trainings/retreat facilitations with 370 participants
• 1 annual governance conference with 340 participants
• Many comments on training benefits such as "Our board has realized their roles and responsibilites in fund raising and are actually doing a good job of it!"

It's people like you who can make this happen. You recognize that strengthening governance and management is essential. But you're in a small, elite group. Not everyone gets this concept. So we rely on you.
