We at The Nonprofit Center have always focused on making all our services financially affordable for the nonprofits we serve. While we rely heavily on earned income, we keep our fees as low as possible so that you can take advantage of the seminars, conferences, consulting and financial services we offer.

It will be no surprise that we, like all of you, are challenged to balance our revenue and expenses. Therefore, we are making the very difficult choice to increase fees in one area of our work – consulting. There will be no change in the fees for any of our other services – seminars, conferences or accounting/bookkeeping. Membership fees are also unchanged.

Since 2004 consulting services have been available to our members at $100 per hour. For those nonprofits who have not yet become members, the fee is $125. With all consulting projects, we present proposals which include a flat fee based on these numbers. That fee does not change unless you, the client, change the scope of the project. If we underestimate the hours (as we most usually do!) we absorb the cost.

Our fiscal year begins July 1, and our budget for the year will include an increase for consulting services. The fee to Center members will be $110 per hour and $140 for non-members.

Special Offer

Between July 1 and August 31, we are offering "pre-sales" of consulting projects or blocks of time at current rate. The time "purchased" must be used by June 30, 2010.

For example, if you are planning a retreat in the next twelve months, you can save up to $200 plus travel expenses by purchasing your retreat facilitation before August 31.

Retreat facilitation includes:

• pre-retreat planning, including a meeting with retreat organizers
• preparation of all handouts
• provision of a resource booklet for each participant
• facilitation/training (usually 3 to 5 hours)
• retreat report (optional)

The current cost to Center members for a board retreat ranges from $600 to $800 depending on the length of the retreat. Once the new fees are implemented this will be $660 to $880. The cost for non-members will increase by $250-$280.

The new fees will be implemented September 1, so we encourage you to plan ahead now and save by confirming and prepaying your consulting projects. And you might want to consider becoming a member for additional benefits.
